I used UDPP and Bare Study Paint Pot on my lid as a base. I filled in my brows with Ardell Brow Definer Powder in Taupe. I used Ricepaper all over my lid, Honey Lust on the middle and outer lid, and Velvet Lady (LE) on my outer lid and into my crease. Above my crease, I applied Honey Lust and blended it with Nylon into my brow bone. I lined my waterline with Graphblack Technakohl and used Plushlash macara in Plushblack. Soft Neutrals

Photobucket

I couldn't decide if I wanted to do just a neutral eye today or a smokey eye, so I decided to do something in the middle. I used UDPP to prime my eyelids and Quick Frost pigment as a base. I filled in my brows with Ardell Brow Definer Powder in Taupe. I wore Phloof! on my inner lid, Rose Blanc (LE) on my middle lid, and Relaxing (discontinued) on my outer lid. I had Satin Taupe on my outer crease and Relaxing above my crease. I highlighted my brow bone with Phloof! I wore Blitz and Glitz fluidline on my upper and lower lashline and Phloof! on my lower lashline and Plushlash mascara. I wore Trace Gold blush on my cheeks with Shimpagne MSF (LE). I wore Plink! lipstick and Starlet Kiss (LE) lipglass.

Exhausted.

This has been such a busy week. I started my third year last Thursday. Working two jobs already had me tired, but now I'm really missing my sleep!

Old Navy had the huge denim sale on Saturday, so I had to work all weekend to get the store ready for that and to recover it on Sunday.

I like my classes for the most part. It's definitely going to be a lot of work, but I feel like I'm really going to learn stuff this semester that I will use in my classroom. I'm taking South Carolina History (which I love,) a Geography class, an English class, a class on teaching Geography, a class on teaching English, and then another Education class on Tuesday nights.

I've been looking at the days ahead on my calender, and it doesn't look like one of my long naps is anywhere in my near future. All I can envision is plenty of Diet Coke and Starbucks.

Subtle Pinks

Here's a really simple look I did for class today. I wanted to some color (I'm so tired of neutrals!) but still keep it natural looking.

I filled in my brows with Ardell Brow Definer in Taupe. I used Bare Study paint pot on my lid and crease as a base. I used Phloof! eyeshadow on my lid, Trophy Pink (LE) eyeshadow on my crease, and Nylon eyeshadow on my brow bone. I wore Dame blush on my cheeks, Pervette lipstick, and Flusterose Lustreglass on my lips.

Looks: Neutral Yellows and Browns

Photobucket

Here is a look I did today for the first day of class. I had three classes today:

South Carolina History 9:30-10:45
Introduction to Physical Geography 11:00-12:15
African-American Literature 2-3:15

The classes themselves weren't bad, but I was exhausted. I didn't sleep well last night (I think just knowing I had to go made me not be able to fall asleep) and the South Carolina heat totally drained me. Thankfully, my makeup stayed in place.

I used UDPP and Bare Study paint pot all over my eyes as a base. I filled in my brows with Ardell Brow Definer Powder in Taupe. I used Creme Royale (LE) on my lid, Honey Lust on my crease, and Phloof! above my crease and on my brow bone. I lined my lower waterline with Graphblack technakohl and my lower lash line with Creme Royale (LE) eyeshadow. I had on AVON Daring Definition Mousse Mascara in Black. I wore Gleeful Mineralize Blush (LE) and Fuchsia Fix tinted lip conditioner.

Subtle Neutral Pinks and Browns

Photobucket

I did this look today just to run around town and run some errands. I had to make a trip to Target for a few random things and I also had to pay for my speeding ticket that I got a few weeks ago.

I used Naked pigment as a base all over my lid and crease. I used Jest on my lid, Dovefeather (LE) on my crease and Phloof! above my crease and on my brow bone. I lined my upper lashes with Blacktrack fluidline, lined my waterline with Graphblack technakohl, and had on Splashproof mascara in Blacksplash. I filled in my brows with Ardell brow defining powder in Taupe. I had on Margin blush, Sweetie lipstick, and All Woman (LE) lipglass.

Duplicates - Dovefeather: Digit (Satin) All Woman: Underage

Update on Mama

Mama had another surgery this morning. It is her second one since being diagnosed with breast cancer. Today, she had a lumpectomy and things went pretty well.

First thing this morning she had to take a pregnancy test (ha!), then go to another doctor's office for her to have something injected into the breast (some sort of tracking device), and then finally to the hospital for the operation.

They injected a dye to see which lymphnodes it attached to. From what the doctor told us afterwards, it never attached to a lymphnode (which is a good thing.) She did find some enlarged lymphnodes, so she removed those and they were negative for cancer cells. From what we can tell right now, the cancer hasn't spread outside of the milk duct. However, they will be doing more extensive tests on the lymphnodes they removed and could find some cancer cells there.

We are not out of the woods yet, but definitely received the best news we possibly could today. She will still have to have radiation (which we already knew from the first surgery) and may possibly have chemotherapy, but we will find all that out next week at her doctor's appointment.

So please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. Thanks so much.

Clothes I Really Want

When I was at work last week, we got our new stuff for August in. Old Navy's July collection really just wasn't me, and I didn't get anything from it. But fortunately for me, and unfortunately for my checking account, August is really making up for it. The August collection is very preppy and has lots of pinks and greens-- two of my favorite colors to wear. So, I've been on the Old Navy website all weekend looking at things I want to pick up at some point this month. Our discount is actually better if we get stuff before it goes on sale, plus you have a better chance at finding your size and not having to track something down. Here are some things that I have my mind on...

Women's Fitted Polo

Isn't this adorable? This is right up my alley, and only 15 dollars (before my discount.) So cute.

Women's Tiered Pleated Tunic

I really love this too. There is also one in hot pink (which is actually cuter), but everything in my wardrobe is black, white, or pink. Haha. So I'm going to branch out and go for the green.

Women's Voile Roll-Up Shirt

I actually bought the hot pink one the other day and wore it today to church. It's really comfortable and cute on. I'm probably going to get the light pink one and maybe even a plain white one if I see one in my size on clearance in a few weeks. The shirt is really lightweight which is perfect for our miserable South Carolina weather.

Women's Striped Boyfriend Cardigan

I'm not sure I'm completely sold on this one, it's a little pricey at $26.50 for a short sleeve sweater, but it might be really cute. I'll decide when I try it on. I don't even think my store has these yet, so we'll see.

Women's Rib-Knit Cardigan

I think these cardigans are so cute and really versatile. Plus, you can't beat 17.50! It comes in a lot of colors, but I'm going to get the black one. I used to have one and I wore it all the time. I actually don't even know what happened to it, but I'm excited to get another one, especially with the cute pockets.

And now for my favorite thing...

Women's Argyle Ruffle Neck Cardigan

I really love this sweater. They have a pink one too, but I think if I get the pink polo I won't need it. I love this sweater and especially love the little ruffles on the neck. It's definitely way too hot to wear this right now (or in the next few months for that matter) but I want to go ahead and grab it before it gets sold out.

I'm sure you'll be seeing me wearing some of these in upcoming pictures!

Post Secret

A few months ago, I stumbled across the blog for Post Secret. I've read the Post Secret books before, but on the blog, new secrets get posted every Sunday. It never fails, every Sunday morning, postsecret.com is the first website I go to. I love the honesty and rawness of the secrets. I love how every Sunday I read a new secret I never knew I had. Some gross me out, freak me out, etc. but at the same time, someone was brave enough to share that, something I'm not sure if I could do.

Here are my favorite secrets for this week.. August 10:

If you don't normally read Post Secret, you should really check it out.

Clean and Clear In-Shower Facial Review

Rating: 4/5

Price: $6 and some change at Walmart. Also included a trial-size moisturizer.

What it's supposed to do: provide a deep-cleansing treatment to detoxify, smooth, and soften young skin

Pros: This makes my skin feel super soft, plus it's very quick to use.

Cons: It is hard to wash off all of the beads. I kept finding them inside my ears and in the edge of my hair later on in the day.

Overall, I really did like this product. I thought it was reasonably priced and it's amazing how soft it made my skin feel.

MAC Autumn Winter Trends

So, I was perusing the MAC Cosmetics webite the other day and noticed they'd added a new page -- Autumn Winter Trends. On this page, there are five different categories (artsy, de-vine, glamorama, honed, and seventease) with four looks per category. I never really understand the description that MAC gives, but I love that they show you how to recreate them. Here are some of my favorites....

Minimalism (Artsy)
Photobucket

According to the MAC website, you can create lips like these either using Snob lipstick or Pervette lipstick. Lucky for me, I just got Pervette a few days ago using Back to MAC. It's a gorgeous color and I really like it. It's a very soft pink with a light touch of lilac. If this is all it takes to look artsy, I'm set!

In Vino Veritas (De-Vine)
Photobucket

How gorgeous are these lips? They used Cherry lipliner and Pink Nouveau lipstick. I don't have either one of those, but I tried to recreate it anyway. I used Magenta lipliner and Creme de la Femme lipstick and it worked out nicely. I also put Funtabulous dazzleglass on top for some extra shine.

Honed to the Bone (Honed)
Photobucket

I love the way this model's eyes look. She looks so natural. The website says that it's Groundwork paint pot, but that might be too dark for my eyes. Either way, this is gorgeous.
